  • work closely with managers and key people across the group?

Then we have the perfect opportunity for you!

Who are we?

We are a group of around 40 strategic advisers working to achieve the group’s goals, strategies and ambitions. We contribute to DNB prioritising correctly, making good decisions and getting things done.

We work closely with the different business and corporate areas to implement prioritised projects, often across the bank. We deliver a wide range of consulting services and are a strong central project environment that realises goals, strategies and ambitions for the Group.

How we work

We provide consulting services to all of the bank’s business and corporate areas. Our portfolio of projects therefore covers a wide range of the group’s activities and reflects the DNB group’s most important initiatives. In the projects, we focus on both strategic consulting and early initiatives, in addition to implementation that produces lasting results.

We typically work in a team of two to three consultants. We work closely with professional resources from the different business and corporate areas. Complex issues are resolved together in teams, and we create implementation strength across the Group.

Our career model is similar to other consulting firms and contributes to a structured development process. We have a strong professional and social environment, with a great focus on learning and well-being at work We are continually working to develop further as good strategic advisers and project managers through solid consultancy skills, good business understanding and broad knowledge of DNB and the financial industry.

Transformation of loans to large customers and the corporate market

In 2023, DNB conducted an assessment of which technology will best support our and our customers’ need for issuance and monitoring of loans to corporate customers. The work was part of our long-term ambition to replace our old core systems. This is important for reducing risk, increasing internal efficiency, improving customer experience and creating greater flexibility for future business development.

Consulting assisted the project with:

  • Assessment of the different supplier options
  • Stakeholder management and change management across all involved environments in the bank, including assessments of what implications different solution alternatives would have for customers and employees
  • Preparing a business case for different investment scenarios with associated business gains
  • Assessment of strategic risk associated with the decision
  • Project support and preparation of decision documentation for management
  • Plan for profit realisation
Materiality analysis and concretization of a sustainable strategy.

In the spring of 2021, DNB conducted a materiality analysis of DNB. With this and more as input, a revitalised sustainability strategy was launched in the summer of 2021, with ambitions to take a leading position pioneering a sustainable transition. Consulting was involved at key steps along the way:

The project delivered:

  • Materiality analysis for the DNB group with recommendations for prioritising the ESG theme
  • Specification of DNB’s sustainability goals for 2030.
  • Terms of reference and set-up of a new sustainability committee at the DNB group to coordinate the work of delivering on sustainability goals
  • Designing and deciding on a new approach to ESG data that makes it possible to automate reporting and collect and use ESG data in completely new ways
  • Measures and framework for monitoring expertise building on sustainability at DNB
Serving small and medium-sized businesses (SME)

Project SME service was launched to increase customer satisfaction for the smallest corporate customers. The purpose of the project was to recommend measures for how to increase customer satisfaction.

The project had four key deliverables:

  • analysis of the current situation and challenges
  • competitor analysis
  • segmentation model for grouping customers as required
  • suggestions for service concepts adapted to new segments

The project recommended developing new customer segments, with a hypothesis that new segments contribute to a better understanding of customers’ needs. New customer segments will make it easier to develop customer-centric operating concepts, which the project expected would increase customer satisfaction.

Merger and integration Sbanken + DNB

In March 2022, DNB bought Sbanken and a merger program was created. DNB and Sbanken are two brands in the DNB group facing the Personal Market. The aim was to create two distinct differentiated brands that target different customer segments with different value propositions and customer surfaces. The merger program lasted until May 2024.

Consulting was involved in the early phase of the merger and throughout the integration with the customer and was responsible for important deliveries in the programme.

The project delivered:

  • New strategic approach and target image for the Sbanken brand concept from DNB
  • Planning and implementation of legal merger
  • Full integration of the Sbank, including clarification of internal organisational units
  • Preparation of service concept in customer centre for handling and care of end customers
  • Implementation and migration of customers
  • Developing future organisation for the Sbanken concept of DNB
DNB Property Strategy

The purpose of the project was to produce a strategic scenario for the large customer segment over the next three to five years.

The project delivered:

  • a current situation analysis
  • strategic scenario, ambition and strategy for the next three to five years
  • recommended measures

The project has drawn up a plan for how a large customer can proceed in order to achieve their ambition to become Norway’s leading player in New Construction, as well as secure growth in other key areas.

Customer Insight Services

This project was carried out for DNB’s key customer segment. Several international banks currently offer anonymised and aggregated statistics from transaction data to their corporate customers, for example, statistics related to demographics and trading patterns for the company’s own customers. DNB wanted to evaluate ethical and legal scope of action for offering this type of product in Norway, and investigate demand in the Norwegian market.

The project delivered:

  • assessment of ethical and legal scope of action
  • suggestions for which insight products DNB can offer within regulatory requirements
  • investigation of business potential

In a start-up phase, the project recommended providing statistics from transaction data for socially beneficial purposes, assuming several measures to ensure good privacy protection.

Examples of such statistics have been provided about the pandemic’s effect on different industries.

Have you been able to use your education as a consultant?

My psychology studies gave me a basic understanding of people, cognitive processes and bias. So I use my degree every day to work better with different types of people, put together well-functioning teams, design good workshops and, last but not least, ask good questions.

What surprised you when you started in DNB?

As an in-house consultant, you are exposed to the breadth of the bank and are offered many exciting opportunities.

Among other things, I have acted as a communications adviser to the CEO and manager of the personal customer market. In both roles, I have learnt a lot that I bring to my projects.

What do you appreciate about the projects?

I really appreciate working on projects that give me the opportunity to continuously learn something new, while at the same time using a toolbox as a consultant/project manager on a regular basis. People are allowed to work closely with managers around DNB, and the projects present different issues that are exciting, challenging and educational.
