Sparebankstiftelsen DNB was established in 2002 and has donated over NOK 11,5 billion to public benefit purposes.

Sparebankstiftelsen DNB is an independent foundation. The foundation owns around eight per cent of the shares in DNB, and the dividends from these shares are used for various socially beneficial projects.

The purpose of the foundation is to safeguard the savings bank tradition by providing contributions to public benefit and to be a long-term owner in DNB.

The foundation supports initiatives that

  • create meeting places for affiliation (community)
  • trigger a commitment and participation (voluntariness)
  • promote mastering and learning (skills)
  • develop role models (examples)

For example, the foundation has contributed to:

Urban cultivation gardens on Tokerudåsen

The DNB Savings Bank Foundation has contributed to several organisations receiving support for school gardens and other cultivation projects. Among these are Tokerudåsen condominium, which has received support for urban farming between the residential blocks at Stovner in Oslo.

Rental skates in Asker

Many sports organisations have been supported by the DNB Savings Bank Foundation over the years. Asker Kunstløpklubb (Figure Skating Club) received support for rental equipment so more people can try figure skating.

Playground and meeting place at Hovseter

The Norwegian Society of Friends at the Steiner school in Hovseter in Oslo has built a fun playground and meeting place for the pupils and the entire local community. They received support for the project from the DNB Savings Bank Foundation, which has supported many thousands of projects that benefit children and adolescents.

Old-fashioned rural life in Lier Bygdetun

At Lier Bygdetun, old-fashioned buildings are being renovated with a great deal of volunteer work. Among other things, they have received support from Sparebankstiftelsen DNB for the summer holiday activity Tidsreisen (Time Travel), where children can experience what rural life was like 100 years ago.
