Moving share savings account FAQs

Can I move without triggering tax?

Yes, you can move your share savings account with another savings provider to your share savings account in DNB at any time. We will help you with the transfer and merge the accounts into one Share savings account at DNB.

Does it cost anything to move?

DNB does not charge you when moving your Share savings account to us. The other savings provider may charge a fee for organising the transfer of the share savings account.

Will I be out of the market during the move?

No, you will be exposed in the market the whole time. We recommend that you do not trade in the account after you have started the moving process, as this causes the whole process to take longer.

For a period, you will not be able to see your holdings in your share savings account, either with the other provider or with DNB. During this period, you cannot trade in the Share savings account.

How do I find my account number?

To order a move of a share savings account, we need you to provide the number of your existing share savings account. This number can be found from your existing provider.

Examples of numbers we can receive in the transfer form for share savings accounts are:

  • Share savings account policy number
  • Share savings account bank account number
  • Share savings account mutual fund account number
  • Share savings account Euronext Securities Oslo (VPS) account number
How does the moving process work?

The first thing you need to do is fill out a move form. We will then send a position request to the other provider. As soon as we have received the contents of the Share Savings account, you will receive a confirmation that everything is ready.

Can I move some of the balance in the account?

You can move some of the assets from your share savings account to a different share savings account in the following cases: For yourself, Divorce and Deceased’s estate.

Dividing up the share savings account means that the securities and cash you ask us to move will be moved to the share savings account that you request.

When transferring mutual funds/shares to a different share savings account the corresponding proportion of cost price, shielding basis and unused shielding will also be transferred. The share savings account that it is transferred from will not be terminated when the transfer is completed.

How long does it take?

Securities, cash holdings and tax information must be transferred as soon as possible after receiving the move notification. The time it takes to move the Share savings account is individual and depends on the holding. We need to collaborate with different savings providers, and moving a share savings account with external funds therefore takes longer than moving cash.

What happens to savings schemes that are moved?

Savings schemes you have in the Share Savings Account to be moved will be closed. If you want to continue these after the Share Saving Account has been moved to DNB, you must remember to create them again. As soon as the Share savings account is transferred to DNB, you will find this in the Share savings account overview. You will be able to see which shares or equity funds you have savings schemes for and easily create new or change existing savings schemes.

What can I move across to DNB?

All shares can be transferred to DNB. With regard to mutual funds, it is a prerequisite that the mutual funds are included in the selection of over 430 funds we offer in our Share savings account. We will notify you if your equity funds are not in our selection.
