The card must be ordered by the guardian and to complete the order you must have the birth certificate available with information about the parent.

Contactless payment and online shopping

Debit card with contactless payment lets children tap the card to pay. The card can be used to make purchases, withdraw from cash machines or for online shopping – just like adults do!

No fee for product purchases and withdrawals in Norway. When used abroad, a currency conversion fee of 1.99% applies. The debit card comes with its own current account, which both you and your child have access to through the online bank.

How to order

Parents/guardians

  • Both guardians must be DNB customers. The card can be ordered from one of the guardian’s online bank/mobile bank and signed for with BankID.

    Become a DNB customer.

Date of brith or confirmation parental responsibility

  • Children who are born in Norway get a a birth certificate or confirmation of the registration of the birth and name in the National Population Register. These documents state who the child’s guardian is. If the child was not born in Norway, or changes have been made to their guardianship, you can ask the Norwegian Tax Administration to issue a confirmation of parental responsibility.

    An example of a change in guardianship could be that one of the guardians has died.

How to order

  • Log in to the online bank.

  • Click on Everyday banking and loans in the menu.

  • Click order card.

  • Choose My first card for children aged between 6 and 12, or Youth card for those aged 13 to 18.

  • Click on the My first card button or Youth card to start the order

  • Fill in the details in the form and take special care to ensure that the name and national identity number of the guardians match the details on the birth certificate or confirmation of parental responsibility

  • Check the personal data and click confirm

  • Choose whether to upload a birth certificate or confirmation of parental responsibility

  • Click Scroll through to find out where you have saved the document on your PC. Select document and click Open. The document cannot be more than 3 MB.

  • Click Submit document

  • You will see a receipt on the screen: Thank you for your order

  • When we have processed your order, you and possibly the other guardian (if there are two of you) will receive a notification by email or text message

eSigning of documents

  • Both (if there are two of you) must do the following:

  • Log in to the online bank using BankID

  • Click on “My tasks”

  • Click Next on the document to be signed

  • Read through the contract documents and sign the document using BankID.

  • You will get a receipt on the screen: “Signing complete”

How can I block and replace a child’s card?

Youth cards can be blocked and replaced in the teenager’s or parents’ online or mobile bank The parents must have right of disposal of the teenager’s account in order to get the card in their own online bank.
