How to get started

To create a BankID for young adults aged 12 to 17, the child’s legal guardian(s) must have a BankID. BankID for young adults is ordered by parents/guardians in the online bank. Once the BankID has been ordered, it will take up to three working days before the minor can activate their personal BankID in the online bank. The minor must have an online bank, account and be registered in DNB with a passport or Norwegian national ID card in order to obtain a BankID.

Identification requirements

The young adult must be registered with a passport or national ID card in our systems to get BankID for young people. If we haven’t previously registered your passport or national ID card, this can be done by the young adult visiting one of our bank branches. The young adult must also have an account at DNB to get BankID for young people.

How to order BankID for young adult

  1. Fill in the form below and sign with BankID.
  2. If the young adult has two guardians, guardian 2 will be notified that the young adult has ordered a BankID, either as an online banking message or per mail.
  3. Once we have checked that the order is in approved, the young adult can log into their own online bank with a code deviceand personal password, and complete the order. This normally happens within three days.

How to do it

To create a BankID for adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17, the youth must be properly identified when physically presenting themselves at one of our bank offices and the child’s legal guardian must have a BankID. BankID for young adults is ordered by parents/guardians in the online bank.

  • If the youth has two guardians, the other guardian will be notified that the youth has ordered BankID, either as an online bank notification or by post.

  • Once we’ve checked that everything’s in order, we’ll let you know that the youth can complete the booking. This normally happens within three days.

  • To complete the booking, the youth must log in to their own online bank with a code chip and personal password. When logging in, the youth must select «Log in without BankID». Then go to Settings -> BankID and follow the instructions for activation.  

Identification requirements

The youth must be registered with their own passport or Norwegian national ID card in our systems to get BankID for young people.

If we have not registered your passport or Norwegian national ID card earlier, this can be done by the youth meeting up at one of our bank branches in order to legitimise themselves. Upon identification, there is no need for guardians to participate – the youth can come alone.

An appointment must be made for this at the bank branch. The young adult must also have an account at DNB to get BankID for young people.

FAQs

Do I need to have a BankID as a parent/guardian?

The guardian who will order a BankID for young people must have the BankID themselves to consent to the booking. The guardian who orders BankID for the young adult must also have an online bank agreement with DNB.

I’m aged between 13 and 17 – how do I get a BankID?

One of your parents or guardians can order a BankID for you by pressing on ‘BankID for Youth’ under ‘Settings’ in their own online bank. You will also need your own code chip to log in to the online bank and create your own BankID password when the order is approved.

The other guardian will then be notified of the order via online bank notification if he/she is a customer, or by post if he/she is not a customer of DNB.

How long does it take before I get BankID?

Normally it will take up to three working days for the minor to get access to order BankID in the online bank, after the parents/guardians have given their consent.

As a guardian can I use BankID from another bank?

Yes, you can, as long as you have an account/online banking at DNB.
