Get started with Google Pay
Google Pay is a simple way to pay where your physical card is replaced with a smartphone, tablet or other supported device, such as a smartwatch. When you set up Google Pay, a token is created. The token is a digital version of your physical bank card.
Please note: The app is called Google Wallet.
To use Google Pay, you need a device with the Android operating system and a Visa or Mastercard from DNB. Once you have these in place, you can follow these steps:
- Go to my cards in the Mobile Bank and push the card into Google Wallet
Alternatively, the following can be done:
- Download the Google Wallet app from the Google Play Store on your Android device
- Select 'payment method' and add your desired DNB card
- Accept terms
- Enter the confirmation code you receive
Google Pay is now ready to use.
You can use Google Pay on phones, tablets and other supported devices with the Android operating system. For the service to work, the device must have version 9.0 or later with built-in NFC (Near Field Communication).
You can add all DNB Visa and Mastercard cards that support contactless payment, look for the contactless symbol on your card.
If you wish to order a card, this can be done here
If you already have a Google Play account and a Google ID where you have previously entered your card details, these will appear in the Google Wallet app.
Using Google Pay
You can pay with Google Pay at all payment terminals that accept Visa and Mastercard contactless payments, both in Norway and abroad. Google Pay can also be used in online shops and apps that offer Google Pay as a payment option. If you see one of the symbols above, Google Pay can be used.

After completing the payment, you will see a white tick in a blue circle above the card on your screen, which confirms that the payment has been approved.
For payments under NOK 500, you activate the screen and hold your device over a point-of-sale (POS) payment terminal.
For payments over NOK 500, you are required to unlock your phone/tablet/device with a code, fingerprint or facial recognition.
No, you do not need a PIN code to pay with Google Pay. However, you must unlock your phone/tablet with a code, fingerprint, or facial recognition for payments over NOK 500.
Security and Google Pay
As with other unknown transactions, you should dispute it from your online banking after logging in.
Yes, DNB has conducted a thorough security assessment before including Google Pay as a new payment solution. Google Pay has been assessed to meet all of DNB's security requirements.
It is recommended that you secure your phone/tablet with a code. This will reduce the likelihood of misuse. However, it is still recommended that you contact us to block the digital bank card linked to Google Pay. You can block this by contacting customer service on +47 91504800 or via chat from your online banking after logging in.
It is possible to block the digital bank card and the physical bank card independently of each other. This way, you do not need to order a new physical card if you have only lost the device with Google Pay.
Please note that blocking your physical bank card may also result in blocking your digital bank card. In these cases, Google Pay cannot be used.
If you choose to download and install the Google Pay app, you accept Google's terms of use, and thereby consent to sharing transaction data with Google. This only applies to transactions made with Google Pay. You can withdraw your consent at any time by deregistering your payment card. You can deregister your card in Google Pay or by contacting DNB. If you do not use Google Pay, no information is transferred to Google.
