Switching banks FAQs

Can I switch banks without doing it digitally?

After becoming a customer, you can fill out a switching banks form (PDF) to transfer deposits and standing orders in writing. You must specify which account number you want your money transferred to on the form.

You can also fill out the form to change/pay off credit cards (PDF).

Hand in the form at one of our bank branches, or send it to:

DNB Bank ASA
Current Accounts Personal Banking, 21 Oslo

What happens to BankID when I switch banks?

You can have a BankID from multiple banks, but this requires that you have a customer relationship with the bank. If the entire relationship is terminated, the BankID associated with the relationship will also be terminated.

The same BankID can be used across different banks and other merchants.

When you switch banks, it may therefore be a good idea to keep your BankID from a previous bank until you have ordered a separate BankID from DNB.

What happens to AvtaleGiro when I switch banks?

When you move your money and get new accounts at DNB, you can move the AvtaleGiros you have linked to the accounts you’re moving from as part of the process.

Transferring AvtaleGiros can take up to one month. The reason for this is the communication involved between your previous bank, DNB and the recipient of the AvtaleGiro.
