You must have an active BankID agreement to be able to activate and use the BankID app.

To activate/use the BankID app, it is important that you remember your personal password.

Have you forgotten your personal password?
You can change this in two ways:

• In the BankID app using ID verification.
  See instructions.
• In the online bank by logging in with your personal code and code device. You will then receive a one-time password by SMS and can then create a new personal password.

1. Click Log in in the top right corner and enter your Norwegian national identity number.
2. Select BankID.
3. If you have not logged in with the BankID app before, you must click on Choose another BankID and then BankID app.
4. Your choice will be remembered for next time.
5. Click on the notification that appears on your phone to open the app. If you have not enabled notifications, you must open the app yourself.
6. Approve the request in the app.
7. Go to the login window in the online bank and enter your personal password of at least 8 characters.
8. Click on the arrow to log in.

An outdated version of the BankID app may remain on your phone. Therefore, delete the BankID app, reinstall it and activate the app again.

If you have received a new personal password today, or recently set up a BankID agreement, we recommend that you wait a day before trying to activate the BankID app again.

It is possible to activate the BankID app in two different ways:

1. Passport
2. National ID card

• Change the default browser on your phone. Recommended browsers are Edge or Google Chrome.
• Try activation using a different network, for example Wi-Fi or mobile data.
• Turn off VPN and clear your browser history.

If a page appears inside the app that says: we need information from the old app, URL not found or 404 – The page you are looking for does not exist, this means that you also have an old version of the BankID app on your phone.

Check the app library/search function on your phone and delete all BankID apps. Once you have deleted all BankID apps on your phone, you can download the app again and start the activation.

It is not possible to activate the BankID app with activation codes.

To activate the BankID app, you must complete an ID check with either a passport or ID card.

No, do not throw away the code token even though you can now use the BankID app. You can manage with the app on a daily basis, but it is still wise to keep the code token as a backup.

You can only have the BankID app activated on one device at a time. If you have a new phone, the app must be activated again.

If you have BankID from another bank, it may be that this bank does not yet offer the app.

Overview of banks that offer the BankID app

If you have your four-digit personal code and code device, you can log in to the online bank by using the login method Without BankID. Click on Settings, then Change personal password and click on New password and follow the steps.

To transfer the BankID app from another bank, you must first delete the app on your phone. Then download it again and activate it with BankID from DNB when asked which bank you want to link the app to.

Note: If you experience persistent errors after deleting the BankID app on your phone, it may be that it is still linked to your BankID with the other bank. Therefore, contact the other bank so that they delete this in their systems as well.
